  • Mid-Market Growth Equity Fund – Investment Associate – London

    Pinpoint Partners is working with a leading international mid-market Growth Equity fund who are looking to hire an Investment Associate into their London team. The firm specialise in investments across the Consumer, TMT, and Education sectors, and is about to finalise a their fourth fund at over €1bn, so it is an excellent time to join.

    Key competencies:
    An understanding of financial statements and concepts including profit and loss, balance sheet, corporate and personal tax, cashflows and company forecasting
    Ability to prepare and evaluate company valuations
    A good understanding of the legal framework of a transaction and ability to assist the team with review and management of external counsel if required
    Report writing, including articulating detailed investment rationale
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    Deal Origination:
    Carry out all aspects of financial modelling and perform financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research using various desktop tools such as Capital IQ, Mergermarket, etc;
    Support the team in origination activities and proactively take on sector research which focuses on actions;
    Support on execution modules as required and under supervision of more senior colleagues;
    Demonstrate appetite for learning and pro-active seeking of new opportunities;
    Hold a good presence in meetings with management and able to find areas of subject matter expertise, with the ability to lead a conversation – always have a point of view;
    Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of financial and commercial analysis skills;
    Conduct preliminary reviews, assessments and financial analysis of potential investments;
    Begin to develop sector expertise in certain sub-sectors, and conduct research proactively.

    Deal Execution:
    Assist more senior members of the team to execute deals:
    Assist with the third party due diligence process, including Commercial, Tax, Legal and Financial due diligence, including assisting with negotiating terms;
    Assist with the debt-raising process;
    Perform in house due diligence, such as reviewing financial forecasts and KPIs,
    Draft Offer Letters for potential investment opportunities;
    Prepare Investment Descriptions for review by senior managers prior to submission to the Investment Committee, under supervision of an Investment Manager / Director;
    Preparation of Final Investment Memoranda for submission to the Investment Committee, including investment rationale, market and sector review, financial overview, valuation analysis and sources & uses of funds, under supervision of an Investment Manager / Director;
    Assist more senior members of the team with structuring and negotiate detailed terms of a transaction, including key parts of the Sale and Purchase Agreement (e.g. warranties & indemnities, purchase price mechanics) and Shareholders Agreement (e.g. management equity, shareholder rights);
    Consistent evidence of commercial judgement and ability to develop robust and defensible investment thesis for new deals, which can then be supported by diligence workstreams;
    Be proactive in looking for new ideas and projects rather than waiting to be asked.

    Portfolio management
    Produce consistently accurate and thoughtful portfolio reports with minimal supervision and pro-actively update when required to ensure always up to date;
    Prepare performance management/reporting, internal and external presentations and other briefing/meeting materials;
    Work and develop portfolio management activities, evaluation of strategic options and exit scenarios.
